I'm a "newby" member of sessions and have read some of your discussions with interest... I recently came across a book of
tunes by Ed Reavy. I especially like Lad O'Beirnes but haven't heard it played on any recordings, Youtube, etc... I was wondering if anyone knew of a recording of it anywhere.
A great hornpipe, and the story about its composition is true as Ed Reavy jr. has told me more than once. Fiddler Sean Ryan put a sweet lonely feeling into this tune, on a recording released as the last track of his timeless album with P. J. Moloney. Lovely long phrases, soulful intonation. Like other tracks on that album it was given an unusual name ("The flowing tide" in this case).

If you mean the hornpipe, it is played with mandolin and guitar (Mick Moloney and Shelley Posen) on this album:
