I love these type of tunes you seldom hear them played in sessions, great cranny type tunes for the flute and pipes, can sound good with the box and fiddle too. Matt Molloy has featured a few of them on his albums, The Silver Slipper from Heathery Breeze and Dusty Miller from Stony Steps with a very unusual bodhran backing from Donal Lunny. I like backing these kind of tunes myself, but you dont hear much bodhran backers for this type of tune, my rhythm being across between skippy hornpipe and also marchy, or maybe a ceilidh style, I dunno, but I would love to hear more.
Seamus Ennis played a few, as did Coleman, and the ones they play would probably be among the more commonly heard hop jigs - the Foxhunter's, Comb Your Hair and Curl It, the Dusty Miller, etc.

Re: Hop Jigs
I don't know any, and no one around here plays them, but I love them when I hear them, which is unfortunately only on recordings.

There's one, "Mike Hobin's", leading off the Lunasa CD "Se".
