Tune name on "Reed Only" by Tim Collins and Brian McNamara
I've been learning the jig set which makes up Track 9 on the album "Reed Only" by Tim Collins and Brian McNamara. The listing gives the tunes as Fasten The Leg In, Westering Home, and Tell Her I Am - all new tunes to me. I wanted to see how these tunes would fit into other sets, so went to the database to check that the names given were right/usual/common - you know.
Fasten the Leg in (Her) looks fine. Westering Home doesn't - and I think it's more likely a version of The Muckin' o' Geordie's Byre. The last - Tell Her I Am - doesn't resemble any version of that tune that I can find, and I hope that someone recognizes the tune and can give me another name.
I've transposed the tunes down a semitone (the album is concertina and pipes) to what I think the usual session key would be, and the A Part of the last tune looks like:
T: McNamara/Collins version of Tell Her I Am
M: 6/8
L: 1/8
R: jig
K: Gmaj
c|:BAB dBG|BAB d2B|ABA AGA|BGE E2c|
BAB deg|bge d2B|AGE GBA|GEA DEG:|
The key may not be Gmaj - I'm guessing that because the C is natural and the tonic seems to be G.

Thanks Will and Elaine - I'm embarrassed I didn't spot that - I was thrown by the fact that the normal A Part was missing in the set - the transcription above is played as the A Part. I didn't realize Tell Her I Am was a 3-parter!
I might just put The Battering Ram after it. Any other suggestions?

Careful with Tell Her I Am, Martin. There are two distinct versions. They're clearly related, but there is a two-part version which is noticeably different (apart from not having the last part!) and which is still played here and there. You can find a decent setting of the two-parter in O'Neill's 1001 Gems. I like the two-parter, and it has things about it that aren't in the three-parter. Then again, I still prefer the three-part version.

Hi e.b. - yeah my searching turned up the O'Neill's 1001 Gems 2-part versions, but they still had the usual first part, which the set I've learned seems to lack!

Thanks for reading this far!

Yep, looks like Tell Her I Am, to me, just a few odd turns of notes.
The setting I hear most often at sessions (similar to Martin Hayes' setting) goes more like:
K: G
~B3 dBG|BAB dBG|ABA ABA|AGF E2c|
~B3 deg|age d2B|cBA GBA|GFE D3|

I agree with Will. What you've transcribed looks like a variation on the last part of Tell Her I Am.
