Yes, look under rowing. You will use it as your oar.
Or look under accompaniement. But you need to bring your own melody player. Kind of like a monkey bringing the guy that plays the hurdy-gurdy.
One of those.
Not specifically, but you could enter under 2 categories, I suppose. "Rogha Gleas", as PP says above - I think that translates as "Miscellaneous Instruments", or also as an "Accompanying Instrument" as MorganYYZ says. I have to admit, I've never heard of anyone entering either of these competitions on guitar, but I suppose it has been done.
Probably because the neck stretching that is involved in getting the different pitches out of a hot water bottle is such a hard skill to master. I hear it takes people years to learn to get it into the second octave.
"Would Rogha Gleas be the appropriate category for hot water bottles?"
If you attach bellows, drones and chanter to it, it might just qualify for the Piob Uilleann category. Just choose your hot water bottle cover carefully.
BTW I am sure I have heard of people entering the fleadhs on solo guitar. Anyway, it fits the criteria. Here's what the CCE rules say for th miscellaneous category:
(16) Rogha Ghléas -- Miscellaneous -- such as, one, three and five-row accordion, piccolo, harmonica, fife, flute pitched above ‘E flat’ and below ‘D’, or any other acoustic instrument onwhich the melody can be played, and not catered for in aforementioned competitions. Competitors must state instrument and specify tuning or pitch (where applicable) on the
Official Entry Form.
...so, there you have it - "any other instrument on which melody can be played". It could be a marimba, a yoghurt pot and rubber band, a hot water bottle harmonica...

Re: Guitar competiton
That would depend on the judge.

Only instruments that have been traditional for 1000 years have their own category

That doesn't leave much then! - Perhaps the judges?

Re: Guitar competiton
The hot water bottle set has been sadly neglected instrument from the tradition's attention for very much more than ten centuries...

Re: Guitar competiton
Anyone who tries to play in the second octave on the hot water bottle should have their neck stretched.

Re: Guitar competiton
You need to play a hot water bottle dry to hone the crispness.
