Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

Now that I've gotten in touch with Ian, Sean, and Max about getting together for a session, I'm setting this up to rid ourselves of the confusion of emailing back and forth. Kind of like making a four-way phone call. So, question to Ian, Sean, and Max: Since Max can't make it to the Harp, what say we all meet at the slow session at the Celtic Arts Center in Studio City? I'd like to make this the initial place for us all to meet, because it seems to be in the middle of everyone. I'd just like to set up something convenient so we can all see each other's faces, exchange info, and possibly plan something for the future. I will be at the Harp on the 8th, however! Please post any comments, better ideas, etc.

OK. Sounds good. Do you have a date in mind for meeting at the Celtic Arts Center? And also, do you have to be a member of the Center to come to the slow session? I emailed them and asked them, so we'll know for sure as soon as I hear back from them. I know that the monday night fast session is free, but I don't know about the slow session.

BTW -- if it turns out that I can't come at all anytime soon (I don't think that will happen), just go ahead and start doing things without me, and will do what I can to join in later. Thanks!

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

Max- Why don't you give a date, as your schedule sounds the most infllexible. Just pick a random Sunday, and I'll probably be able to go. Now we just need everyone else to actually say what they think! I don't really know whether you have to be a member or not- but that sounds really exclusive and so very anti-craic! That would be pretty bad, get back to me on that one...

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

I heard back from the CAC and they said that you do not have to be a member to come to the slow session, but that if you like it and keep coming back, membership is encouraged. I talked to my mom and she said she would not mind driving me so I will talk to her about a date and get back to you ASAP.

Sounds great. Let's not try to make it too late on Sunday (since I have school the next day). I should be free on most Sundays though. It'd be better not to do it until February for me, but otherwise, it should be fine.

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

The slow session only goes until 6, so we don't need to worry about it going to late. I have school the next day too. And I would also not be able to do anything til February, so it looks like this is going to work out.

Awesome!

Awesome! Seeing as I can drive now, I see no reason why I can't go out there. Just set a date and I'm there.

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

I'll be at the session at the Harp on the 8th. I have Winter Formal the night before, so I'll be exhausted, but I'll be there! ALSO, MY BAND IS PLAYING AT THE HARP THIS FRIDAY, THE 23rd OF JANUARY, IF ANYONE WANTS TO COME, I'D LOVE TO MEET YOU. Hope to hear from you soon! I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the Slow Session, it seems more like a class than a session, and I don't want to have to spend the money for gas on something like that, but maybe I'll show up. The next one is on January 25th.

HELLO? ANYONE OUT THERE GONNA RESPOND?

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

Sorry, Sean. Geez, stop yelling! That's kind of soon, I'll see if anyone from my family wants to go. Hey, my mom might even want to come. She got pretty excited when we went to go see Gaelic Storm last Saturday. She even said to me, "Emily, I want to learn how to play the bodhran!" "C'mon, mom, stick to dancing..." I don't see how it's possible for a dancer to be so unable to find the beat. So now that you've gotten to the end of my rambling, what time are you guys playing at? Is there a cost? Or is it just one of those things to draw people off the street in to buy drinks?

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

I wasn't yelling, just trying to get someone's attention, lol. Anyways, We start playing at (about) 6 pm. I say about because all of the guys are Irish. It's free and it's fun! In addition to trad. music, we also play some contemp. stuff like Lyle Lovett and others. Hope to see you there!

Think you'll be able to go?

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

Sorry, Sean- I suppose moms have a right to spring babysitting jobs on their teenage kids. And the kid I watched was incredibly boring, he just sat around playing video games the whole time. I guess that's the good kind of kid to babysit, though, right? I mean, what are your other options? All is not lost though, if you're going to the Harp on the 8th. I will definitely be seeing you and Ian there, maybe even Max if his parents' attitudes improve.

Re: Especially for Sean, Ian Martyn, and Max Becher!

It's okay you couldn't make it; when I got down to Costa Mesa, the "manager" of the band, Charlie, told me our lead singer Roland's mom showed up unexpectedly from England and that we weren't going to play. So you didn't miss anything. I will be there on the 8th; hope to see you there!
