You might want to check with _Steph_, she's about 30 minutes away and usually knows what's going on.

You could start at www.irishrochester.org website organized by the Tom Finucane Branch of Comhaltas which is usually on top of most of the activity there.

Re: Trad scene in Rochester, NY

My bother-in-law, who lives in Pennfield, found two sessions for us when we were over last time but one. One was about 30 people at The Knights of St Colombus or somewhere. Last time we were over there was a good session at the old-timey festival in Gennessee ( ?sp? ) Park in August. Not all Irish of course, but I'm not fussy.

'My bother-in-law' ... ROFLMAO

What a wonderful Freudian slip, Pete!

Well, we can love him more because, being on the other side of the Ditch, he's no bother.
Sometimes we call 'em out-laws.
Oh, and at the old-timey festival you got in free if you were carrying a ( stringed ) instrument. My wife was glad she'd brought her ukulele on the trip !

Mommy-hood has me sorely out of the loop, but the aforementioned website is certainly a good start.

Also there is a newish pub (McGraw's) that is fiercely supportive of traditional music - there have been a number of sessions and concerts there, and I believe they're hosting a ceilidh this weekend.

Looking forward to getting there to play someday soon :-)
