Archie McKeegan ~ 1976!

Archie McKeegan ~ 1976!

Did anyone else see the late & great Glens of Antrim singer, Archie McKeegan, on BBC Ulster last night?

If you missed it, some of you may still be able to catch it on the iPlayer ......
Those Were the Days! at 7.30pm:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00zj190

There were a couple of very nice clips of Archie near the start of the prog. around 3 mins 30 sec & again right at the end at 28 mins. 30 sec, but unfortunately they didn't get him to sing!

These were filmed back in 1976 & the very last clip is of Archie on the side of the road .... thumbing a lift. ............ no doubt heading for Johnny Joe's! :-)

For anyone who didn't know Archie ..... CD: Archie McKeegan - The Smith of Tiveragh:

Re: Archie McKeegan ~ 1976!

I knew Archie well what a character, he had Good songs, stories, and fun...But a wee heart of corn. In all the Days he knew Martin and Helen O'Kane,, Helen said to me he always just call her 'Missus Kane' and I heard him at it many times.

I think Caitlin taped some of his songs for the Arts Council archives as well. Must have a word with her next time we are up that way.
