Players near Port Clinton, OH for Big Bird Week (2nd week in May)?

Players near Port Clinton, OH for Big Bird Week (2nd week in May)?

Nothing in the sessions list, and nobody admits to being from Port Clinton or Sandusky, sooo....

I'm going to be in Port Clinton for Big Bird Week (No not Sesame Street! real birds migrating across Lake Erie) and was thinking there's going to be so many people there, that there's bound to be enough players to get a decent session up if only we know where to find each other. So if you or any player(s) you know would want to have some tunes the second week in May, lemme know eh?

I've never been to Port Clinton for Big Bird Week but if it's anything like the counterpart autumn migration at Canada's Point Pelee, directly across on Erie's north shore, it should be spectacular. Fall migrations at Point Pelee host fantastic concentrations of raptors and passerines. Not to mention the huge rabbles of migrating monarch butterflies

If you get the chance, come down to Columbus—some fine sessions here. Don't know about Toledo but should be activity in Cleveland, too.

Hey fidkid, as it happens, we're going to spend a couple nights in Hocking Hills on the way up. We're driving up from Florida, and if I had my way, I'd travel from one session to another until I got there. Alas, my wife dislikes ITM, jazz, classical, pretty much everything that's at all complex and without lyrics.

When are the sessions in Columbus? Maybe I can negotiate something.

We kept a sailboat in Sandusky for 10 years at least but were not into birding then. Sadly. We've seen the monarchs from the middle of the lake, and great clouds of comorants too. Even a huge swarm of honey bees crossing the lake too a rest aboard once. We were practically covered in bees for an hour or two then they continued on. That's an amazing place for migrations of all types.

'm still fairly new to Columbus so hopefully someone with more info can step in and help you out with more complete info.

Of the sessions I know about, Sunday evening at the downtown Claddagh is probably best in town. A session is starting up again at the Old Bag O Nails pub in Gahanna on Tuesdays (it had been closed due to a fire). There's a sometimes not-so-slow Slow Session at Espresso Yourself Coffee House in Powell on Monday nights. The Shamrock Club on the south side has sessions every other Thursday plus extra ones during the month.

Hocking Hills/Old Man's Cave is beautiful in the spring. Any time, really.

Thanks Fidkid, I'll call some of those places when we get there and see what's going on that week.
