lol gam. I like the tune also. Matter of fact its one of my favorites. It's hard though. Ive been working on it for probably 2 months now and i'm still bad at it. Well, maybe a year or 2 from now when i've learned others and get better on the fiddle, i can try and rock it out! *Looking forward to later-
A great tune from the pen of the prolific Sean Ryan. It's funny I should read this thread as this is a tune that I've found myself playing again in recent days. I've been working on it and found some nice "ins and outs" of it. I might post my ideas in the tune's "comments" section if I get the chance.
I've always known this as 'The Meadow', composed by Finbarr Dwyer, but recently it has come back into circulation and is attributed to Sean Ryan. I've checked the Tunes section here and Kenny knows it equally as the Meadow.
It's definitely a Sean Ryan tune. As Prof. P... states, it appears in his book of compositions "The Hidden Ireland". Finbarr recorded this tune in the 1970s and called it "The Meadow" but he had a lot of unusual titles for some of the most common tunes. It does sound like a typical Finbarr tune and I guess people assumed, before doing proper research into the tune, that he wrote it.
The Trip to Nenagh rocks
The Trip to Nenagh rocks
That's about the height of it.

And it sounds like you're still hallucinating from it, Sarge.

Re: The Trip to Nenagh rocks
It's in Ryan's book 'The Hidden Ireland' as The Trip to Nenagh.

Re: The Trip to Nenagh rocks
Lovely playing! Out here, we have it as a tune by Paddy O'Brien, the elder. Have we been wrong all these years?
