Great posts, thanks. The piano playing is so much more interesting than the usual stuff I've heard. (I'm zoning in on piano because that's what I'm exploring at the moment) There's a looser, freer feel to the Cape Breton that'sappealing.
My Ma once said to me that a really good comedian can make you laugh, but also make you cry, because it is all about understanding and empathy in making people laugh.
The maestro Mr. Macmaster can make me watn to dance.
He can also bring a tear to my eye.
I love the Cape Breton stuff myself - I have a fair bit of Buddy MacMaster on my iPod. It does suck that a lot of the tunes don't seem to fit well on whistle/flute/pipes.
And how did you get 'tossing' through the swear filter?
Buddy is the master. I met him once years ago when he was teaching a Cape Breton fiddle class at Sabhal Mor Ostaig. You could see what an inspiration he was to all the fiddle students there (and there were an awful lot of them!).
I don't know how I got past the swear filter, either. Wow. My memory of posting that is incredibly hazy, as I was pretty well hammered. Maybe that's the secret. Enough wine and the swear filter doesn't even know you're there.
Why pay attention to swear words?
Just ignore and you don't reinforce the behaviour(like managing children...)
The music is what most people are interested in(apart from those who get their kicks from picking on these aspects of a post..... which were obviously thrown in without intent to offend...)
I think you must be the only one who's bothered by it. Everyone else, including me, is just mystified that jeremy's naughty word filter didn't change the word w a n k to the word "toss."
@ Lucy Farr, in my post I first commented on the music, and then as an aside wondered how the OP had managed to circumvent the swear filter.
...and music may not be the sole interest of the members on here... For instance, I was recently doing a Google search on wig glue (looking for an alternative to ToupeeBond), and this site came up second in the list of search results.
Oh lord... the fumes from this new SyrupStik stuff is making me talk shight...
Yes Silverspear and PatMustard, both your contributions were primarily concerned with the music,I acknowledge that.
I'm grateful for the post because I'm looking forward to checking out more Cape Breton.
Silver Spear I can understand your enthusiasm. I could watch that sort of thing all night (and Her, they didn't have 'lookers' like that in my day)
Which brings me to lucy farr...didn't I know you when you lived in Lewisham, London in the early sixties?
We miss the places... Hiyoh Silver, next time your by dear friend we'l kick it up a bit and have a few steps together...
Sadly, the completely out of place singing in Hawaiian by that we self obsessed madam Hayley Westenra - where's a gagging smilie when one's needed? BLEWCH!!!
Music and dance!

Jerry Holland, shortly before his passing. He still had it, in spades. One of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting.
