For me, I'm more often tripped up not by individual tunes, so much as by consecutively-played pairs of tunes that share certain key phrases and then diverge. I won't give examples, as nothing good can come from that.
The B parts of Hardiman's jig and the Roaring Barmaid are also kind of like that. Not too often do you get back to the A part with the guitarist knowing where the heck the downbeat is.
Here's one from Paddy Fahey that is very disorienting because in the B part the recurring melodic bits are shifted from where they occur in the A part. http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4890
Thank you for each tune suggested - more fun to be had.
"The Guns...." Got me to thinking about crafting a tune that would continually alternate between 3/4 and 4/4, which is kinda similair concept to the compas of some flamenco styles.
Musical tongue twisters
Musical tongue twisters
Enjoyed watching the youtube and then playing through the recently posted tune "Sail Away Ladies".

It seemed like a bit of a musical tongue twister.
I bet there are probably quite a few good tunes that might be described as musical tongue twisters.
Any nominations?

Jim, just use C flat -- it's near enough. : ]

Re: Musical tongue twisters
There's a pipe tune called The Conundrum that exploits the tendency for our brains to seek patterns. The first tune here:-

it's rather clever, and also a good tune.

Good For the Tongue in B-flat and the Vendome Hornpipe in F -- the latter AKA The Independent. Good for the fingers too!

Re: Musical tongue twisters
Proudlocks followed by Off To California - without swapping tune in the B part.

Deserving of mention: Elzic's Farewell

I have both heard and seen this played with E natural notes where the referenced version features E flat notes.
