Can anyone enlighten me as to a recording, presumably an LP, called The New Mown Meadows, and possibly featuring Con Cassidy and Michael Gorman. I think it may have been a US release. So far I have searched in vain. Thanks!
Sorry, Sharon, I've never heard of an album with that name.
If it exists, it's hugely unlikely that it featured Con Cassidy since he was only recorded privately, apart from 'The Brass Fiddle', of course, the unreleased 'Northern Fiddler' 'Pass the Time' album, and a cassette of musicians from the Teelin/Carrick/Kilcar area of Donegal which was released in the 1980s.
Michael Gorman's output is pretty well documented and there's no mention of 'The New-Mown Meadows' as an album.
Thanks for replies so far. A bit of a rethink on my original information - did Neili Boyle record the tune 'The New Mown Meadows'? And if so, what album/cassette was it originally released on?
Whoops, I'd forgotten that Con Cassidy collection.
'The New-Mown Meadows' certainly does not appear on the 3-CD Cairdeas collection of Néillidh Boyle's recordings as a separate track, though I'd have to revisit the RTÉ 'The Long Note' radio show recording (which is included) to be totally sure.
We play this tune in our session, trying to recall what with without much success at the moment. We got it from Sheamus Heneghan's album "Caught in the Surf" which I believe is listed on this site. I bought the tape(!) in the pub in Louisburgh where, if I'm lucky, I have a few tunes with local musicians including Sheamus when we're on holiday.

Re: The New-Mown Meadows
There was a Con Cassidy CD released about 3 years ago, well worth getting, doesn't have New Mown Meadows though. Details here -

Re: The New-Mown Meadows
Correction - it was recorded by Peter Kennedy as 'The Loughanure Tune' and, as such, appears on the second CD of the Cairdeas collection.
