Changing notes on concertina

Changing notes on concertina

I'm just wondering if notes can be changed on the concertina easily? Eg. If i wanted to change my pull C# to a puch C# down a button, or wheatstone to jeffries layout? If yes, where and how much?

Re: Changing notes on concertina

well, it can definitely be done. what kind of concertina do you have? the more changes, the more difficult it becomes. in general, swapping a C# is pretty easy. but changing an entire layout might require a professional, as not every reed or reed shoe will fit into every slot. it may even require retuning the reeds, which is not to be taken lightly.

Re: Changing notes on concertina

Definitely depends on the instrument, I wanted to do this exact thing to my vintage Lachenal Bb/F, but the reed pan shoe size for the notes I wanted to swap made it impractical.

have you considered having both a push and a pull C#?

Re: Changing notes on concertina

Or like my Carroll, have three C#s on the right side third row, first button is C# on both push pull, second button is C# push, D# pull.

Re: Changing notes on concertina

I had a Jeffries anglo changed from Jeffries to Wheatsone layout. Involved some new reeds and a bit of a retune. Done by a professional - cost c £250.
