Forgive my ignorance but how does this tune request thing work? I requested a couple of tunes a while back. Either nobody knows them or nobody bothers with this feature. I look ocassionally only to find some of the requested tunes can be found by searching this very site.
Anyway the tune I'm looking for is 'Alcoholidays' by the Fureys. I think it is one of their own.
The tune request section works by someone requesting a tune. This then appears in the list. If someone knows it and is in the mood then they might post it. If they do and the names match up then your request disappears from the list and you get an email with a link to the tune.
If someone's request is types in as, for example, "Alcoholidays by the Fureys" (I have not seen your request) then it will not match up.
There are numerous requests made by folk that haven't actually taken the time to search the database. As you say, if they did they would find their tune was there all along.
I look at the requests list occasionally but it can be quite a frustrating experience.
As far as your request goes I am afraid I don't know it so can't help. Is it a tune or a song or maybe the name for a set of tunes?
If someone does post it you will not get a notification.
As an aside I see that amongst the most recent requests are Mrs McLeod's reel and Haste to the Wedding - both of which will have been in the database for years!!!!
Thanks one and all. I have amended the request.
The version being played at a local session differs from that on offer here. Thats 'traditional' music for you. I suspect the version going around hereabouts has been pulled from a set and might better be described as Gan aimm.
Tune request.

Nice polite, helpful answers only please.

"Alcoholidays By The Fureys, I Think"
is not a good request.
