There is also a Scottish '' Speed the Plough ''
Second tune here - Reel.. Usually play At Breakneck speed...
But here, my new Shetland Friend Bernard, Plays it at a nice pace
that's good for learner's -
jim,,,
The Scottish one is played in Ireland, I learned it thirty years ago off a Séamus Ennis tape. 'Off in the Morning' is a more common form of the Scottish tune in Ireland.

The comments seem to point towards the Scottish origin. That clip is nice change from the 'English' way of playing it. How is it played in Ireland.
If anything, it's not the Galtee Rangers, that a completely different one. Tom Billy would fit in with it's Sliabh Luachra credentials (Séamus Ennis got it from POK)
Name this tune
Name this tune
I've heard this tune at various session, but for the life of me I can't remember the name? Any Help? (and yes, I've tried the abc search here)

Re: Name this tune
Speed the Plough. Or O'Keeffe's Plough, to avoid confusion with the other Speed the Plough and to reference Padriaag O Keeffe.
I'd look for a different version if I were you.

Re: Name this tune
That one you label "Scottish" I learnt a version of when I was about 8. It's a very common English morris tune.
The OP's tune: isn't it sometimes know as Lad O'Byrne's Favourite?

Re: Name this tune
Ref: Lad o'Byrnes. Scrub that - I think I must be thinking of a different tune ...

Er ... yes, Jim. That's the one the OP (beretta) was asking about and wrote out right at the start of this thread.
