someone's got to start the music

someone's got to start the music

happy new year!!
Sydney, Oz...

http://www.wikio.co.uk/video/midnight-fireworks---sydney-years-eve-4864455

down at the harbour tonight was definitely the most multicultural experience you would find...there must have been every language being spoken on the face of this planet. A nice still humidy Sydney night, and a million people all in the one place.
Very surreal this year; a bit strange.
Anyway have an apprehensively happy new year, all.

Re: someone's got to start the music

as Julian Assange has found out, there's a lot of people who want to censor the internet. Where there a will, there's a way...

I hope this one works for ya:

Re: someone's got to start the music

Crazy Australians! Do you blow up that bridge every year???

Happy new year to all! (apply to correct time zone)

I'm just off to buy a few pounds of chocolate so that I can make the torte for tonight's revelry.

Re: someone's got to start the music

yep, every year. the smoke was unreal., it filled all the city streets..I think it was all from the fireworks anyway.
Actually, I think most Australians watch that on tv, the people on site seemed to be from every part of the world, down here on holidays enjoying the hot weather...including the bloody English balmy army (jeeeezzz!)

Re: someone's got to start the music

I was actually standing among a group of English tourists, very nice they were too; and in their endearing fashion, they don't like getting pushed around by queue jumpers....from some parts of the world who don't observe such etiquette. Whoa!

Re: someone's got to start the music

it's actually nice to know that when the world goes to hell in a handcart, the English, Irish and Americans will still be there to not put up with crap....
sorry, that's my new year rant ... for the year.

...and the Aussies as well, of course.

Re: someone's got to start the music

I saw the news today, Oh boy,
Four thousand leaks in Belfast, Belfastshire

...Good luck to those who've had burst pipes and a water shortage there, and to those who've been flooded out in Queensland. I hope the waters recede there.

Re: someone's got to start the music

surreal new year alright. the world is upside down it seems.
Queensland floods are the highest in recorded history. the qld'ers will survive as usual good on em.
Béal Feirste go bragh.

Re: someone's got to start the music

Surreal enough. The wiser folks tell us we'd better get used to these extremes. Anyway, don't let the Queensland floods stop production at the Bundaberg plant, if you can help it. (So help me, I have a fondness for that stuff.) All the best in the new year, guys!

Re: someone's got to start the music

no problem there, quigs. (Bundaberg survives on water).
...and one of the best new year wish list songs you could ever want in the lead up....'we all want to be big stars...but we don't know why'.....yeah...

Re: someone's got to start the music

Let's hope they filter the stuff. And here I thought the Sacramento river was a swolen, muddy mess this winter. Doesn't even compare. The Queenslanders are getting deluged, and in the summer too! Summer, in Australia?!! Doesn't fit popular perceptions. Isn't Australia in drought mode long about now? Or supposed to be?

Re: someone's got to start the music

it's the land of droughts and flooding rains, quigs, equally so.
the flooded area is the size of Germany and France combined, and that is only one Australian State...we'll survive...az usual.

Re: someone's got to start the music

(I only just learned that somewhere around Kimberly there is a national park the size of California. Great priorities! Great thinking on someone's part. I love that.)

Re: someone's got to start the music

the Kimberley is the absolute outback, quigs. if you go there, don't bother about trying to come back. This place is so big and empty that you think you're on another planet...and you can't go back!! it's excellent fun, and beyond the 'frontier'. I can't live anywhere else...my mind is part of it.

Re: someone's got to start the music

good thing to do on nye! ...and a very good lyric for itm affifionados, I feel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYN74ZW4k_E

shala la la la la….
I was down at the New Amsterdam;
staring at this yellow-haired girl…
Mr. Jones strikes up a conversation with the black-haired flamenco dancer
She dances while his father plays guitar…
She's suddenly beautiful…
We all want something beautiful
… I wish I was beautiful.

So come dance this silence down through the morning…

Cut up, Maria! Show me some of them Spanish dances!...
and Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones.

Believe in me!
Help me believe in anything;
cauz I want to be someone who believes!

Mr. Jones, and me… tell each other fairy tales
and we stare at the beautiful women
"She's looking at you. Ah, no, no, she lookin’ at me."
Smiling in the bright lights, Coming through in stereo
When everybody love you… you can never be lonely

I will paint my picture
Paint myself in blue and red and black and gray
All of the beautiful colors are very very meaningful!
Grey is my favorite color
I felt so symbolic yesterday
If I knew Picasso I would buy myself a gray guitar….and play!

Mr. Jones!... and me! Lookin’ to the future
Stare at the beautiful women
"She looking at you.
Uh, I don't think so. She's looking at me."
Standing in the spotlight
I bought myself a gray guitar
When everybody love me, I will never be lonely! I will never be lonely; never gonna be… lonely….

I want to be a lion
Everybody wanna pass as cats,
We all want to be BIG BIG stars, yeah but we got different reasons for that….Believe in me because I don't believe in anything
and I want to be someone to believe, to believe, to believe…..
yeah…

Mr. Jones and me…. stumbling through the barrio
Yeah we stare at the beautiful women
"She's perfect for you, Man, there's got to be somebody for me."
I want to be Bob Dylan!
(Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky)
…When everybody love you, ah son, that's just about as funky as you can be!

Mr. Jones and me…. staring at the video
When I look at the television, I want to see me… staring right back at me!
We all want to be BIG stars! but we don't know why! (and we don't know how)
But when everybody love me, I wanna be just about as happy as can be
Mr. Jones and me…We gonna be BIG stars.!!!
