I've been inspired by the latest Commando Trad video to kidnap my fiancee and her daughter and make a day trip to Vieux-Montréal on the 26th (shh, don't tell them). We have little or no interest in shopping, but I'd love to find out that there's live Quebecois music somewhere or other happening at some point in the day. Does anybody have any knowledge they could share?
You'd be better off coming a few days later. Here are a few shows cut and pasted from an email announcement received from the SPDTQ ( http://espacetrad.org/ )
*Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer, les 28 décembre ou 29 décembre au La Tulipe, 4530 rue Papineau, à Montréal;
* La Veillée de l'Avant-Veille, le 30 décembre, au Club Soda, à Montréal;
* Les Tireux d'Roches, les 28 et 29 décembre, au Cabaret Juste pour Rire, à Montréal.

Re: Montréal on Boxing Day
That's a shame. If I go on the 26th, it's a 3.5 hour drive. Any other day, and it's a 9 hour drive. Thanks for the information, anyway.
