The third DVD compiling highlights from the RTÉ 1 series has just been released and is available directly from the Irish Traditional Music Archive (http://www.itma.ie/Publications/CWAR3.html), for €14.99 plus shipping.
Here's a full list of those appearing:
1 Charlie Harris, accordion. Jigs: Hardiman’s Fancy, William J. Mullaly’s (Drumraney Lass)
2 Robbie Hannan, uilleann pipes. Reels: Jenny’s Wedding, My Love is in America
3 Sean Keane, fiddle, & Paddy Taylor, flute. Jigs: Down the Back Lane, Sixpenny Money
4 Jimmy Crowley & Stoker’s Lodge. Song: Salonika
5 John Kelly, concertina. Slide: John Kelly’s; Reel: Tom Keane’s (Old Concertina Reel)
6 Sharon Shannon, accordion, & Paul O’Shaughnessy, fiddle. Jigs: Killavil, Cliffs of Moher
Thanks MacCruiskeen for putting the list together. A great variety of players and singers there. All credit to the Archive and to RTÉ for the great work they're doing.
Danny, just looking around the site mentioned above, I found this page http://www.itma.ie/Publications/DVDs.html and it appears that all 3 volumes are available on DVD.
If you want all three (they are not a box set) you need to shop around. The first one, in particular, can be had quite cheaply these days. Not that I want to diddle any worthy supplier out of their profit, but times is 'ard...
I wouldn't worry about the DVDs as they are all good and the Vol. 1 and 2 are priced cheaper at the ITMA so they are all worth having in your collection. the Videotape would be much harder to find these days.
I have an old VHS of 'the pure drop' where some of these out takes in the come west series were sourced, Id be very interested to hear of others with similar tapes. Anyone?

Re: Come West Along the Road, volume 3
Are the musicians listed getting younger by the series? or am I just getting older? :(

Re: Come West Along the Road, volume 3
Confusingly, the VHS Come West Along the Road Vol. 1 is completely different from the DVD Come West Along the Road Vol. 1.
