Can someone tell me what language is being written here? Once I know, I can have it translated on: http://translate.google.com/#

Hilarious.

Ptarmy, haven't you heard? It's the English language austerity drive where to save billions of pounds, all superfluous letters, especially vowels because they cost more (I don't care what Scrabble says), are removed from words.

TSS, not all the vowels are discarded, so perhaps we could describe it as a vowel movement ?

Re: Clear velum on a db banjo wud dis do anything to the the tone of the banjo

Well it will certainly make the tone brighter. Whether this is a good thing depends on your personal taste and which banjo you put it on. I tried one on an Oakwood with an arch top tone ring and resonator, it was startlingly bright, so I quickly switched to something else. However, I later got an open back Oakwood with a Whyte Lady tone ring which came with a clear head. I had intended to change it for a Renaissance head, but the clear head seems to suit this banjo. Angelina Carberry uses a clear head on her Oakwood openback.

Ptarmigan, apparently possessed of deep pockets, tried several heads on his Paramount, so he may have more info on http://theirishtenorbanjo.ning.com/

Indeed Andy, Alim might like to check out the three videos on this thread, to see how Renaissance, Five Star & Fibreskyn Heads effect the sound of my Paragon

My Paragon with Three Heads:
http://theirishtenorbanjo.ning.com/group/cliffordessexparagon/forum/topics/my-paragon-with-three-heads

Just for the record, I stuck with the Fibreskyn Head. I didn't actually bother trying the Clear Head, because most folks seem to reckon that gives a louder, brighter sound, which is not what I look for.

Cheers
Dick

P.S. Sorry, but I just left all my vowels in ..... as is my wont! ;-)

Dick, your profligate use of vowels and punctuation will ensure that future generations are enslaved with crushing grammatical debt.

probably nothing noticeable in comparison to a smooth white one. tighten it if its too dull sounding.

also if you're using bronze strings try changing to nickel ones to see what you think. alot brighter for alot longer.
