In "House" it sounds to me like Hugh Laurie tries to do a blandly middle-American accent . . which sounds exactly like a Brit *trying* to do a blandly middle-American accent.
Revenge, I suppose for the many American actors who've butchered English/Irish/Cockney/Aussie accents in TV and films over the decades—
