Accordian player Paddy Hayes

Accordian player Paddy Hayes

I have recently heard some tunes played on an old recording of Paddy Hayes. Does anyone know if this is commercially available or how many CD's are there from this artist. Any info on Paddy Hayes?

Re: Accordian player Paddy Hayes

Phew! Every time I see a musician's name as a Discussion topic title I get twitchy thinking s/he may have passed away. So it was with much relief to see it was not the case with Paddy.

A lovely player, with a laid back and understated style, Paddy Hayes is a very nice guy, a gentleman and has a great sense of humour. It's about time he had an album out and it's now on my shopping list. He also has other bits and pieces recorded, like on "Echos of Erin", a Comhaltas production, and on "Irish Music in London".

I believe he has senior Fleadh Cheoil titles on both accordion and concertina, maybe a year or two back. I had the good fortune to be "tolerated" by Paddy, with Mulkere, Rooney and Carty many years ago in North London sessions, but have not seen him since.
