At the bottom of the last thread there is mention of Session regular, Ptarmigan and his lovely YouTube posts wherein he plays a meaty selection of session standards at a nice relaxed pace and then with a bit more juice. Must say I've found them a wonderful resource and reckon Ptarmi's generosity deserves a post of its own in recognition! The following address will take you to one YouTube posting which is of course the gateway to a great many more.
Sergeant fox, speaking of Jim McAuley, he has hundreds of tunes on video, on his YouTube Channel, which are particularly useful if you are a Fiddle player:
Hi Dick. I mentioned on an earlier post that my weekend was transformed by stumbling on one of your posts and learning The Mouth of the Tobique. I have seen Jim's great posts many times too but as a mandolin player I love your postings and the way I can get a good clear, steady view of the mandolin and your hands. I live away from Ireland and rarely encounter other players and often resort to learning from sheet music, as well as taking heroin and abusing animals and other low practices. I think you should be the first recipient of the 'Llig Award for Helping to Wean Players Off Dots.'
Dick..
Video work's right on my Facebook Page - I'll change setting's to Everyone - over there - until the Axe Murder's come back and ask me to be there friend's --- lol...
Ditto to the "All Hail," Ptarmigan has been a positive presence on this website for many years, perhaps someday I will have the pleasure to join him in a tune in the real world, not just via the internet!!!
Here's another old friend of mine and likely Dick's too!
He's just started putting Video's on you tube for learner's,
Played nice and slowly - and he's a great lover of the Older Style of Irish Fiddle Music... And know's much more that me about those older Irish Fiddler's, and Indeed the Instrument,
Than I ever will - jim,,,
I use to love that wee watch with mother TV show... I fancy that Sailing down an old English Cannal... Playing There traditional tunes, Stopping of for a pint of real Ale, and listening to someone there singing well,, a lovely Peter Warlock Song --
'' Ah Luxury '' ...
jim,,,
Jim
We were big fans too.For my daughters 3rd birthday ,we hired two barges for her Party . Guess who turned up ? Yes Rosie and Jim.
"But they only move when you dont watch them " my daughter advised me and she was right .
Fair play to both Dick and Jim for for putting out excellent videos of their playing , Dick also has some excellent videos of his banjo playing out there. Thanks Lads !

Well said Paul!
I couldn't agree more, and would add that Dick's reference to Jim's videos is a brilliant resource too.
All the best
