I've put together a collection of the tune played at the local sessions mainly from the abc collection here but also from other sites. I'd like to put it up on my personal website for others to use to learn tunes from.
Any issues with that, so long as I attribute thesession.org as the source of most of the tunes? Plus the other sites also of course.
I hope you do post them. I always like to see which tunes are popular. I put all of Henrik Norbeck's ABC files together into one master file, and added some other session tunes to it. I would also love to see a set of audio CDs made from the tunes. I use some shareware called Total Recorder, which acts like an audio capture utility, and works on my old 300 MHz PC. I have recorded 50 tunes from my "want to learn" list, and I play them in the car. I sometimes wish I had taken the time to say the name of the tune before playing it once through.
I have about 17000(lots of repetition) abc files on my old PC and it only takes up 10M or so. It's a great resource, and I'm sure you could get all the nets abc files on one CD.
I think it's important to attribute the files to who ever coded them, and some files have this information in the header.
Looking at the bigger picture the existence of so many copies of tunes means that the chances of the traditions being lost is almost zero.
I think a big thank you is due to all those who make the tunes we love available to everyone, gratis.
I've made a guesstimate of the total size of all the discussion threads on this site - there are just over 2600 of them - and I reckon it's somewhere between 35 - 40MB, which is easily stored on a cd, and would also be an invaluable resource.
Now if anyone knows a simple way of downloading them all ...

Re: Redistribution of abc files
You might want to look into using a tool like Curl to do it
