Re: Stefan Sobell

He does really nice work. I like the ones he makes out of whiskey barrels and bank counters.

Re: Stefan Sobell

Despite the fine quality of his instruments, does anyone really spend that kind of money for a Sobell cittern? Certainly many fine instruments go for as much or more, but I was wonder if people are actually paying that much these days given the state of things. Seems like the price for Sobells has gone through the roof over the past few years.

A Poem About Sobell Bouzoukis

To own a Sobell
would be fantastic
but they cost a packet
and I'm quite brassic.

Re: Stefan Sobell

Bloody hell 6000 euro 5000 pounds I had better lie down

Re: Stefan Sobell

There once was a Stephan Sobell,
who made bazoukis awfully well.
But what was a shame,
was they all sound the same.
And have you seen the price? Bloody hell.

Re: Stefan Sobell

With reference to whiskey barrels (gravelwalks), I think you're confusing Stefan Sobell with Roger Bucknall of Fylde Guitars.

Re: Stefan Sobell

There once was a Roger Bucknall
Who's bazookis cost f*ck all.
But don't be an ignoramous,
it's only if you're famous
It ain't a free-for-all

Re: Stefan Sobell

Limericks are so passé. Try haiku:

A Sobell for sale?
The dream of sustain and tone
unobtainable.

Re: Stefan Sobell

Starting price has been brought down a good bit....

Re: Stefan Sobell

You're right, it's not Sobell making the guitars out of reclaimed barrels. Hardly my price bracket anyhow!

Re: Stefan Sobell

It's Fylde who use re-claimed timber from Talisker on Skye.

Re: Stefan Sobell

I still like Pete Coe's complaint about his new Sobell 'zouk - "There's something wrong with this f***ing instrument, I can't put it down !".
If anyone thinks his prices are too high, they can always go elsewhere. I've not heard any complaints from the owners.
