I'll be visting Ireland for the next two weeks. Just wondering what some of the better recordings to purchase would be. I'm looking for things that came out in the last two years or so.
What I plan on getting already:
Peter Carberry
Mick O'Connor
Martin O'Connor, Seamie O'Dowd, Cathal Hayden
Matt Cranitch & Jackie Daly
Anything that is really good that I shouldn't miss out on?
I don't know when the official Irish launch is, but there's a new Kane Sisters album they were selling during their eastern U.S. tour a few weeks ago. The NicGaviskey album is wonderful, too. That should be fairly easy to get in the U.S. from CDBaby, so no need to cart it across the Atlantic.
Thank you for the replies. Yes, I'm from NJ and yes I know Mike. I already have all of his CDs and can confirm their quality.
I will definitely add the new Kevin Griffin CD to my list, luckily I already have Brian McGrath's CDs, does he still work at Powell's in Galway? Maybe I'll stop by and see him.
To Ilig Leahcim, I go to Ireland every year or so, and always buy cds while I'm there. I didn't go last year but was there the year before, just looking for 'new releases'.

Re: New Trad to purchase
I like the New one by Blackie O'Connell and Hugh Healy.

Re: New Trad to purchase
Sorry about the capital N above. It's not called the New One, it's called 'We Were Drinking and Kissing the Ladies'.
The second CD by Michael Hynes and Dennis Liddy ('The Spectacle Bridge') is also fairly new, and just as excellent as their first one.
And I second the recommendation in the other thread of the one by Willie Kelly & Mike Rafferty .

Re: New Trad to purchase
I just got the new Kevin Griffin CD recorded live at the Burren Center - It's wonderful.
Also - pick up anything you can from Brian McGrath
It's "must have stuff" for Banjo players

Re: New Trad to purchase
Why are you specifically "looking for things that came out in the last two years or so". If it was pop music you were after I'd understand it.

Re: New Trad to purchase
No reason for someone from New Jersey to go to Ireland to buy the Willie Kelly & Mike Rafferty CD when he can get it at home.
