Willie Clancy Week starts next weekend and that means it's time for the annual session.org(y) session. The highlight of everyone's musical year, no doubt.
By popular request, I am proposing TWO session.orgy sessions. Several posters mentioned having an early one on Sunday July 3rd. Meet at 3pm in Friel's (for those of you unfamiliar with Miltown Malbay, that's the pub on the corner of the Ennis Road and the main street through Miltown Malbay. The name written on the pub is something else).
The second one, pretty much like the last three years, will be at Tom Malone's, 2pm on Wednesday.
God knows if we will be able to get a tune in either pub (depends on whether or not someone has taken over the space) but at least we will hang around there for a little while, giving people the chance to gather, and then find a pub with room to play.
I'll be wearing either a hoodie or a Gore-Tex coat (depending on the weather) approximating the colour of the Yella Board. Bright yellow is not in as a fashion for some reason, so I should be easy to spot.
If anyone is dying to go and can't make these times, let us know.
I will be but as you know, it looks deceptively like a fiddle case. Which I quite like since I prefer going into sessions with a case a bit more subtle than one of those epic rifle cases that screams, "I'm a piper!!!!!!!!"
The last weekend is never a very good time for it, C. A lot of folk have left by then (you surely remember how dead Mullagh was on the second Saturday last year) and by that point I've long passed the point where I am compos mentis. The first weekend is usually great, though. People haven't yet fried any brain cells they had on a week's worth of tunes and booze. No chance of you making it down for that?
Nope, not a chance unfortunately. I'm stuck in this damn city next weekend. Bleh.
The first weekend last year was great craic, when the Quilty lads came to town, and the Milltown and the Quilty lads kicked seven shades of shight out of each other in the middle of the main street
The front room undoubtedly. The back room might be free. As I said, we can always wander elsewhere.
Previous thesessionsessions have been a lot of fun. I've sort of taken it on to post here about it over the last two years, but it's been going on for a while. I heard even one year, Jeremy himself showed up!
For the first time in God know how many years I'll miss most of the Willie Clancy week this year. Im flying back from Poland on Friday and will be be driving down for Fri, Say and Sun. Hopefully we can meet up in Mullach on Friday night.
I shall be recognised by playing a flute, hence the name 'premierflute'... I may also say "Top Of The Morning" to Silverspear if I think it's him..........

A rifle case is better than a round one that screams, "I'm a modhrán with a bodhrán!"

Re: thesession.orgy
Don't suppose there's a 'thesession.orgy' on the last weekend?

I can't get the time off work for the week itself, and I'm busy with other things on the first weekend
If I make it at all, it will only be for a day or two of the last weekend (AKA the short Willie experience...)

Re: thesession.orgy
That's Sunday the 4th of July (not the 3rd!).
It's American Independence Day. We can stand in the street and wave lighters around.

Blah. :( We will miss you.

Fights in the main street are a part of the atmosphere. Sort of like the campsite at the Girvan festival.
