My uncle passed away a two years back and his son, after offering me it (my limited prowess on the box doesn't really transfer), asked me to try and sell his flute in order to offset the funeral expenses. I feel bad about my failure to get it sold on Craigslist and eBay and would like to make good on my promise. I will be at Willie Clancy Week and the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann and would be happy to meet with prospective buyers.
The problem is this: I know very little about flutes and even less about this one; any information on the maker or time of production died with the previous owner. My cousins could find no pertinent receipts and were not even aware that he had bought a new one (they live out of state and he mostly kept to himself). It seems to be in good shape (three pieces, four with the tuning slide disassembled; cork pieces intact) and I wouldn't sell it for more than a thousand (American). I know times are tough all over, so this is negotiable, of course, upon the potential purchasers purveyance.
At the Willie Clancy Week there is a little shop in the main street where a flute retailers sells and buys new and second-hand flutes (and concertinas and fiddles too). The man is an expert in flutes and he is the one I bought my own flute from: an honest man full of advice. He surely knows his job. His name is David Levine.
You might be interested and ask him.

Hello all -
My uncle passed away a two years back and his son, after offering me it (my limited prowess on the box doesn't really transfer), asked me to try and sell his flute in order to offset the funeral expenses. Thanks for looking!

You should try cross posting at the Chiff and Fipple Flute forum:

if you can put up some pictures, that would help.
