Violin maker Albin Schneider, Dresden

Violin maker Albin Schneider, Dresden

Has anybody got any information about a German violin maker by the name of Albin Schneider? I believe he was active in Dresden in the mid to late 19th century.

Re: Violin maker Albin Schneider, Dresden

Thanks for that Fiddleshed. I have a violin with a label on the inside that simply says "Albin Schneider, Dresden". I've had it for twenty years and it was purchased in Scotland. It's had a new neck installed at some stage in its life. I can't see myself ever selling this violin. It's too much a part of me at this stage. I'm just very curious to know something about the gentleman who made this very nice instrument. I'm not at all sentimental about instruments and I'm not a collector but there is something about this old violin that, I don't know. speaks to me.

If you love it, then that's its true value.
