Very nice Bob. That is an excellent finish there.

Beautiful, Bob. What keys is it in? Was it in high pitch, and if so, did you retune it to standard or leave it in the original?

Re: pictures of a restored Salvation Army Concertina

This is a g/d with a fair amount of old, repitched reeds. It had a very hard life with many early attempts at repair. I kept the reeds and reedpan as found.

That is a very thin oil finish...only three coats, but with very careful surface preparation and grain filling

bellows turned out well.

Nice work. Can I ask what you used to fill the grain?

Re: pictures of a restored Salvation Army Concertina

I'm surprised it's an anglo, I thought the Sally Army used mainly english and duets.
But I'm prepared to say I may have misconstrued the information I've been given.
Anyway, good work !

It seems that, for quite a while, at least, it was Anglos they used (scroll down):

Re: pictures of a restored Salvation Army Concertina

Gam,

Sorry for the slow response, I used
"Crystalac wood grain filler"
Becker Labs, Mountain City Tennessee.

I added a sound file to the page for that concertina as well as some other images
