Re: Tune Name Help..

The Flood on the Holm (as called by John Doherty). Maybe from 2 Scottish reels - The Auld Wheel and some other one.

Re: Tune Name Help..

This is The Bag of Spuds, followed by the Flood on the Holm, which is a composite of three of James Scott Skinner’s “Birlin’ reels” (referring to the ‘birls’, or rapid Irish/Scottish triplets.) It’s John Doherty’s version of three tunes composed by James Scott Skinner: The Spinning Wheel, The Auld Wheel, and The Bride’s Reel (the only difference being that instead of playing the second part of The Auld Wheel John Doherty substituted the second part of The Bride’s Reel instead.) Scott Skinner had two versions of The Auld Wheel, the one notated here (from Scott Skinner’s The Scottish Violinist, published in 1900) is not the same as the one in The Flood on the Holm. You can hear that version on the compilation album: James Scott Skinner – The Strathspey King.
