I've received a request for information about a recording released on the Colonial label in the late 1950s or early 1960s by Micky Griffin and His Shamrock Orchestra (COL-LP-199).
The cover features Micky playing an old 15-button Baldoni accordion and my contact is especially interested in any information anyone has about Micky.

Re: Micky Griffin and His Shamrock Orchestra
I do not think that he was from the New York area as no one seems to have remembered him. Perhaps Chicago, Boston, ??

Re: Micky Griffin and His Shamrock Orchestra
3/8 of Paddy Killoran's Memories of Ireland LP released on the same label around the same time was actually tracks of Micky. Here's a used copy, with cheap photo of the cover: http://www.offtherecord.ie/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70&products_id=16920 Wow, only €200.00.
Forget if I ever bothered to buy the MG LP. I used to come across copies of both in record store bins. You might ask over at IRTRAD-L.

Many thanks, Kevin,
I'll pass on the information to my enquirer.
