Martin D-28 guitar for sale, great for trad music!
I have a 2008 Martin D-28 guitar for sale. One of the best sounding D-28s for trad music I have played. Sounds fantastic in DADGAD/drop-D, etc. Gotta pay for a new set of pipes, so this guitar has to go. Has a Baggs pickup installed and the Martin hardcase and warranty papers. If you read the ad you will see that he didn't fill out the warranty so I'm sure the next owner could possibly do that and be registered as the first owner.

I have read the ad.
Firstly, the new owner could do that, but it would be dishonest.
Secondly, I expect Martin would require you to show that you are the original purchaser before registering the warranty.
This has been discussed at length on the unofficial Martin guitaqr forum, so there's no real need to go over it all again. I am just pointing it out in the hope that the OP will amend his ad to reflect the situation, as he is currently implying that the buyer is entitled to the Martin warranty, which is not the case.

No big deal. Just wondered.
He is a good player. I respect that, but ,Mustardville is a place to participate and share information and learn stuff about Trad. with good craic and all that.
I have to work hard at finding respect for profiteers and pushy self promoters.

Boatpiper, Zac's a great player, one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, a phenomenal flute, zouk, and guitar player. He's a real asset to the SoCal scene and a good friend. How about dialing back the nastiness a bit.

So now I need a lawyer to comment on the Mustard cause some dude's misrepresenting a warranty and Mikey got his dander up cause it's his pal? I'd say the nastiness here is the warranty fraud and Mikey stickin up for it.

No, he won't. Martin will merely refuse to carry out repairs under warranty if the new owner tries to claim.
I assumed when I first raised the issue that the seller is unaware of the detailed terms and conditions of the Martin warranty. I see no reason to assume otherwise now.

Yet, his add remains the same.
It still says "Original Martin warranty documents ( I never filled them out, you can)"
He knows he was supposed to fill them out or he never would have said or done that.
He's encouraging unethical behavior.

Nice guitar, good luck with your sale.
You should be aware, though, that the Martin warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not valid for owners of used Martin guitars.
