ID of a Scottish song?

ID of a Scottish song?

The Carolina Chocolate Drops have been performing these songs, and a friend of mine is interested in a title and lyrics for the first one.

Re: ID of a Scottish song?

First of all, thanks for that hotsauce, I didn't know this group and am just blown away.
I will go out of my way to see them

Don't know the first tune but the second is like "Paddy's Leather Britches"

Re: ID of a Scottish song?

It's a very well-known piece of Gaelic "mouth music", which has certainly been recorded by Karen Mathieson and "Capercaillie", among others. I'll try to track it down for you, but I would think any Scottish Gaelic speaker here would be familiar with it. I think Gerry O'Connor from Dundalk may have recorded it too.
Thanks for linking that video - lovely singing .

Re: ID of a Scottish song?

Saw them on their last tour but one, here in London. They are electric (no, they're acoustic ) ( you know what I mean ) !
Have you ever seen anyone blow the jug AND play the bones at the same time ?
And that young woman takes playing the kazoo to a new level !
Let's not forget the fine work on banjos, fiddles, and guitar too.
Do not miss an opportunity to see them.
