Curious to see if anyone is blogging about their love for trad Irish music. I started one this week and would love it if you guys would check it out and let me know what you think of it. Thanks!
Thanks Dick, I'll check it out. I've found that the blogging thing is a great way to meet people with the same interests and connect them. Perhaps we can all use it as yet another way to learn from each other and become better musicians.
Well done to Dick and Eden. I've checked both blogs and they look brilliant. I have a lot of admiration for guys like you who give their valuable time willingly to spread the word about ITM rather than do what a lot of people do here, criticise. I play the bodhran so you can imagine what I have to put up with. Well done to both of you. Keep up the good work and more power to your elbows.

You both put a lot of effort in and made your blog very interesting. You reminded me to put mine on my profile. I use my blog for things that don't really fit in the context of my homepage which is more about trad music in general. The blog is very useful to share photos of any kind of event.
Dick, the video of you and your children playing The Rolling Waves is priceless. The black and white photography, and the tune and the children's faces - all quite lovely, and moving, really. Is there anything more beautiful than children making music? Of their ancestors?
This version of The Rolling Waves seems to be a bit different than a version I own by Keven Burke. They are similar with the rolling feeling, but otherwise different tunes. They are both lovely tunes, similar feel, same name.
As I browse iTunes, the "Burke version" is the more common, but your version is what I hear at my local session. I wonder what the story is on this?
Great blogs. Though I think someone better check the pulse of poor Doris Norris, she might not be coming down to breakfast today.
I have a blog where I post tunes I've written or that I'm playing at the moment. Reading your blogs is encouraging me to do more with it! Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Blogging anyone?
Sara, you do realise that the video was filmed back in the '30s .... we're all much older now!

In fact, come to think of it, I must be even older than Dorris Norris!
As for The Rolling Wave, I learned that from the playing of Willie Clancy:

Great stuff, Eden and DIck.
I especially enjoyed reading your thoughts on the Boehm flute in Irish trad, Eden.
