hi guys
My kids play trad Irish music and as part and parcel of this, every year I bring them to do their exams, and last year I decided, why not, Im sitting there anyway, I may as well sit an exam myself while Im there!
So last year I did the JUNIOR CYCLE LEVEL III exam (Scrúdú Ceol Tíre SCT Exams of traditional Irish music with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann) and that was fine, this year I will be doing the level IV exam. As part of this exam Im required to play 2 single jigs.
Now, I know lots of jigs, but I dont know if they are single jigs.
The Comhaltas sylabus/website has a list of single jigs, but none of the tune titles ring any bells with me (list below) so Im just wandering if anybody can give me some of the more poprular/well known single jigs?
Elizabeth Kelly's Favourite
An Brístín Mire
Ask my Father
Barrack Hill
Behind the Bush in the Garden
Cis Ní Liatháin
Cock your Pistol Charlie (Second setting)
Éilís Ní Cheallaigh
Get up Old Woman and Shake Yourself
Hunt the Cat
Is it the Priest you want?
Off She Goes
Paddy McFadden
Pléaracha Dhoire an Chreasáin
Port an Eachréidh
Rogha Mháire Uí Bhraonáin
Sergeant Cahill's Favourite
Stoneybatter/The Temple House/Grier's #37
The Echoes of Killarney
The Fowler on the Moor
The Humours of Kiltyclougher
The Humours of Limerick - MC13
The Peeler and the Goat
Trip it up Stairs
What ails you
The tune of Pop goes the Weasel has a lot in common with the old English folk song/tune The Lincolnshire Poacher whose air was also used for the popular song from the 1950s...Get out of here with your boom...boom...boom.
Thanks guys for all your feedback.
I have decided to play "Chase me Charlie/Kings of Kerry", a set of single jigs from the album Humdinger, by Enda Scahill and Paul Brock.

Re: single jigs
You must know Off She Goes. It's Pop Goes the Weasel.

Re: single jigs
I've always thought that Off She Goes sounds like Humpty Dumpty......

Bugger. I meant Humpty Dumpty. Embarrassed blush emoticon. As I get older I'm doing that sort of thing more and more. Sugar.
