I've been very busy these past few weeks what with gigs and work so I have'nt had much spare time to watch TV shows from the TG4 website, like Geantrai etc. Anyway the other day I had an hour or so spare so I got onto the TG4 site, which has changed it's look, and and the streaming quality has definitely changed. Sometimes I can't even get a stream at all but when I do quite often I get multiple interuptions. I'm not very computer literate; I'd have more chance of running a children's creche than "fixing" a computer problem. My ISP got me to run a speed test on my computer and when I reported back to him he said that everything seemed fine at my end so I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems or if there is a problem at TG4. I have ADSL2, everything else on my computer is running fine, emails,IE, etc. The security thing is ESET and it seems to run very efficiently with updates etc, far superior to what I used to have which was McAfee so I don't think there's a problem there. As I said I don't know much about computers so any suggestions would be appreciated
Tony, I've had similar (bandwith) problems since the interface changed, especially if I've tried to watch anything during peak evening hours, I had the same problems when trying to watch programmes on the BBC iPlayer too.
I usually try to catch up with things at off-peak times now (like a Sat or Sun morning), and have no problems. Try that and see if its any better.....
when i watch the TG4 Player, i only get about 2-seconds between stops. VERY annoying! makes it completely un-watchable!
For the RTE player, it works perfectly and steams without stops for the entire program.
On that not-so-scientific basis, I reckon there is an issue at the TG4 end.
I tried even using my laptop (MS Windows) and the same issues there, so that rules out it being an iMac/Firefox issue.
Possibly it's too great a demand on a 1MB ADSL line (might be something different with TG4's player compared to RTE's).
I was gonna contact them, but I never bothered. I think maybe we should all mail them, otherwise they might not realise there is a problem.
