Incidence of Fiddle Poisoning Rises Among Immoderate Youth
I just felt compelled to pass this warning this on to all the session fiddlers out there. Note: Apparently not all are in agreement “I don’t even really believe in alcohol poisoning, let alone this rubbish about toxic fiddle,” said chemist and banjo player Dr. E. Coyne, an Irishman. But what does he know, he is just a banjo player. See the article for the full story. http://bluegrassintelligencer.com/?p=1239
Re: Incidence of Fiddle Poisoning Rises Among Immoderate Youth
It certainly is serious, Dan! We should all burn our fiddles. Hell Dan, your fiddle's probably got a curse on it too, from its previous Gypsy owner, who made it when he sold his soul to the Devil or something...

But seriously now....LOL.....seriously, some people ARE allergic to rosin.
But I don't think that's what they are talking about.
I think it's just the alcohol that you find at these events. Nothing wrong with fiddles.
Re: Incidence of Fiddle Poisoning Rises Among Immoderate Youth
"Symptoms range in severity from simple vomiting and confusion to seizures, prolonged stupor, discolored skin, low body temperature, unconsciousness and anterograde amnesia, also known as “blacking out”."
(They forgot to mention diarrhea, mood swings and the shakes.)
"And withdrawal from a severe fiddle dependency can cause a variety of health problems ~"
Withdrawal is by far the worse of it all, so why bother, eh?
