well, jam may not be quite the description since we cant play at the same time. anyway, I opened a room at paltalk called "old time mountain music".
Every sunday night at 5PM central time Im going to open it and everyone is welcome. Fiddle,banjo,guitar,spoons,jug,penny whistle,bag pipes....whatever. Also, forum owners are welcome to stop by and post their links to their forums.
This is completely nonprofit for me, I just hope to have a room we can get together in and play some music.
you'll have to download paltalk (its free) go to the music tab, pick live then pick "old time mountain music". This room will be real flexable, Celtic,country,old time,etc.. just no playing of CDs and rap.
oh, and backing tracks are ok as long as you play your instrument live

For anyone looking for a realtime online jam session, there IS a realtime online jam session website that actually works very, very well. the url is: http://onlinejamsessions.com/
I've jammed with guitar and voice and it's all realtime. Haven't experienced any lag issues personally.

I just wanted to chime in about online jam sessions...as Barry stated, yes it can work with seemingly no lag issues, but as jim stated it IS NOT free; you have to pay $50 a year to use the online jam sessions video chat room.
However, the good news is there are about a dozen other FREE sites that use the EXACT SAME video chat room as online jam sessions. Of course the owner of online jam sessions will make all kinds of claims that his site is better, but the free video chat rooms on the other sites WORK EXACTLY THE SAME as what you'll pay $50 for at online jam sessions. And you have a few to choose from and try. You can find the list here:
