Dublin Session?

Dublin Session?

Hi all,
I've been learning the button box for nearly a year now and I am at the stage when I want to play with other people on the same learning curve that I am. I have a good few tunes off but not up to speed. I am looking for someone to point me in the direction of a session that is beginner or intermediate friendly in the Dublin area.

Thank you in advance!

Re: Dublin Session?

The is a session on a wednesday night in the Culturlann, Belgrave Square, Monkstown. A very welcoming and open session founded by our late friend Bannerman.

There is also a slower session there on a tuesday night if you want to play at a slower speed.

Try both nights and see what suits you best.

Re: Dublin Session?

Comhaltas headquarters in Monkstown used to have a slow and welcoming session on Tuesday nights. I presume it's still running.

Re: Dublin Session?

If you are in north county Dublin, The Seamus Ennis Centre in the Naul had a great slower session a few years back. I hope its still going...

Re: Dublin Session?

Try Monday night in the Cobblestone. Very welcoming and a handy pace

Re: Dublin Session?

Bryan, Is the Monday night Cobbler sesh still led by Mary Begley? I went there a few times when I was in Dublin on business about 8 years ago, and it was a positively delightful session for a beginner like me. (also took in the Seamus Ennis Weekend up in the Naul that year -- WOW! Fond memories....). Brian

Re: Dublin Session?

There is also a secret session on wednesdays in the cobblestone for shy beginners and improvers who might not feel ready to join Monday sessiun with Mary Begley yet.
