B/C, D/G. A thank you!

B/C, D/G. A thank you!

I thought I'ld start a new thread to continue one I started a while ago in which I asked for advice on whether to go for a B/C or D/G or ought else as a beginner with an interest in ITM

Firstly a big thank you to everyone for your advice as a result of which I have now bought a Hohner Double Ray.

Secondly, and I appreciate this is a long shot, does anyone know of a B/C teacher in the vicinity(ish) of Milton Keynes?

I will keep you posted as to my progress however slow it might be but I guess the important thing so far is I've spent the last four days having more fun than I've had for a long time.....

You're less than 20 miles from Luton - there is an Irish centre there. Some great players have come from that neck of the woods.

The first thing you want to do is get the action lowered on your Blackdot (buttons don't disappear down the holes) serious.
This will benefit you straight away as your fingers won't get into bad habbits.
From then on it's bliss all the way.
Good luck.

Good to hear that you are enjoying the world of free reeds, it is a lot of fun!
Luke Daniels, wow! He is quite a talent, and if he gives lessons, I would not hesitate to approach him!

Re: B/C, D/G. A thank you!

Oh dear, It seems to be all take and no give from me right now but maybe when I've got my feet on the ground I'll be able to give something back. Only five days in but I'm absolutely loving it. "her indoors" is feeling rather neglected but she's been muttering about a new fiddle for a while so perhaps now might be a good time!

I'd read else where about getting the action lowered, any suggestions about where to get it done. It might only be a Blackdot but I'm feeling rather attached already. Don't want any old greece monkey getting there hands on it!!!!

And forgive me if I'm being slow on the up-take but any ideas about how I might contact Luke Daniels?

Ooops, a bit of a ramble but thank you again everyone for your kind words of wisdom. I really do appreciate it.

Re: B/C, D/G. A thank you!

I've heard of some people using a piece of cardboard underneath the keys (having got into the keyboard) of some hohner boxes to stop the buttons vanishing. It shouldn't be too invasive an operation and it makes all the difference. The gauge of card is like that of a cornflakes packet folded over (OK it WAS from a cornflakes packet).

I don't think this would do any harm, but if you're not confident with such adventures it's probably better to ask whoever you find to teach you.

Good luck!
