Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

There's a lovely fiddle player somewhere around Calstock, but I don't know where she lives or anything. Useful bugger I am. :-(

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

I know a fiddler who lives in Cornwall. But he'd have to get a sex change operation first.

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

This is Illegal under EU Law you cannot set up any Group with an exclusive Gender ie you cannot say its exclusively Female you could just not let men join but you cant say its female only

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

"This is Illegal under EU Law ... "
There is probably a sizable number of people in Cornwall who have strong views about membership of the EU (as many others do elsewhere in the British Isles).

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Wanted:
Musicians who want to be assembled together into a group first by common gender as opposed to musical chemistry, hopefully as a marketing ploy. Gender inevitably to be determined by what is currently trendiest. Bring two X chromosomes per cell (that is XX, not YX).

Goodbye, Go-Gos -
Hello, Diddly-Diddlys.

Good luck.

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Johndsamuels, you're funny (he said sarcastically) with your comment about multi-tasking and reading maps. All three of my sisters, my sister-in-law, my niece, and my aunt are good at reading maps and multi-tasking. My mother still has difficulty reading maps but she does know how to multi-task. My wife didn't know how to read a map when I first met her so I taught her how to read maps. And, no, she isn't very good at multi-tasking. I am actually better at multi-tasking than she is.

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Thank you for all your exstremely useful comments. By the way I have nothing against male musicians, I just thought it might be fun to have a bunch of women creating a din.
It's not a markrting ploy, it's in the interest of if i want to do it why not? sorry if I've upset some eu law, If anything don't you think all these laws get in the way of personal expression and freedom? Or maybe it's just the political correctness of it all. Thanks for the luck and by the way anyone wishing to have a sex change in hope of joining may do so, you'd be more than welcome, however, those of you wanting to disguise you self in a kilt are not as is wearing false breasts with out the dedication of going for the whole op! lol.
As for all that multi tasking thing, I've never really got it.

I did wonder if the chap who suggested it was against EU rules had been reading the Daily Mail again in the mistaken belief it was a newspaper

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

I hope glengar is joking with:
"This is Illegal under EU Law you cannot set up any Group with an exclusive Gender"

This is not illegal at all in these circumstances. Gender is a perfectly legitimate qualification for an entertainer. Or a friend.

If gender discrimination legislation were applicable (as it is in many fields, and quite rightly so of course) then "you could just not let men join but you cant say its female only" would be equally illegal. Though it might be hard to prove, and you might get away with it for a while.

Europe has it's problems, and the right-wing press has done its best to exaggerate them, but spurious attacks based on falsehoods do not help.

But I'll get off my high horse now - probably you were joking.
Lingpupa - European and proud of it.

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

And the perfect name for the group: The Cornish Hens.

# Posted on January 17th 2010 by Strummer007

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Better make it TRAD Cornish hens.

I mean, ROCK Cornish Hens could confuse.

BTW:
Can any women here read two maps at once?

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

What about a cross dressing guy? Could they join your band?

Or how about a hermaphrodite? I don't know how many hermaphroditic traditional musicians are knocking about Cornwall, but you never know.

wanted female musicians for my new band "Harem"

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Perhaps you could name your all-female band "Harum Scarum" No, wait, you can't use that name because it is the name of an Elvis Presley movie.

# Posted on January 18th 2010 by fauxcelt

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

Already been done. "Harem Scarem" were a traditional band in Scotland 3 or 4 years ago.

oops, cross post!

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

I think they still play now and again. If my memory serves me right there was an American rock band with the same name who found the Scottish folkies online and tried to force them to change their name. I believe they were given an appropriate answer.

# Posted on January 18th 2010 by bogman

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

I know about the Elvis Presley movie "Harum Scarum" because my sister-in-law almost, but not quite, worships his late majesty, Elvis the First. She claims that she actually worships God but I have my doubts about that because she seems to idolize Elvis Presley.
What was this "appropriate answer", bogman? Or is it something which you can't post on this web site?

Re: female musicians wanted for all female band. Cornwall

my goal is to create an all black female band. In a combination of Prince & the Revolution, Kymaxx, TLC , The Runaways, & EnVogue. I am a young black singer looking for black female musicians-does anyone know any who would like to be in this band? Or at least help me out on finding them?
