M. Rooney stolen concertina

M. Rooney stolen concertina

Hi all,
Michael Rooney (Co. Monaghan) was down in Galway last week and had his concertina stolen. It's a silver Sutnor I think and his name is on it somewhere. If anyone hears of a concertina of this description being sold, give his brother, Aonghus, a shout on +353-87-6409105 or call Michael on +353-86-1755329.

Spread the word, especially around the Galway area.

Re: M. Rooney stolen concertina

fidleir,

If you can possibly add the number (I believe Juergen Suttner has serial-numbered all his concertinas) and the type (is it an anglo? is it in C/G? number of buttons/keys?) and email it to me, I will post it on the concertina.net site and see that it is added to Don Nichols's stolen concertina registry.

Re: M. Rooney stolen concertina

Absolute bummer. Same thing happened to my brother in law. Some thieving bstrd stole his Wheatstone and all that was ever found was the box floating in the river at Cushedun.

Wish him all the best.

I assume all the local musicians have been wired off and the Garda notified?

Re: M. Rooney stolen concertina

As a Concertina player myself, it just burns me to no end to hear of someone stealing anothers instrument. Best wishes and hopes in finding it in good shape again.

Stolen instruments

Further to yesterdays post - please find attached another email with a good description of Michael Rooney's concertina. It's a black instrument with metal ends, ebony trim and 30 metal keys. On one end
the words ' J.Suttner Maker' are written on a small brass plate and on the other side the serial no. 131. It was in a square, matt-black finish case.

Last Tuesday night, Paul Finn’s (Téada) accordian was taken from the Kerry to Cork train, somewhere after Mallow. His accordian could be as far a Dublin or either Cork as there is a change in connection at
Mallow. Should anyone hear of a Grey Paolo Soprani accordian been advertised for sale etc.. could you give Paul a ring on 086-1735330.
Good chance this accordian could have ended up in Cork or Dublin so could musicians from there please keep an ear to the ground. The case of the accordian is a black flight case with Aluminium trimming around the sides with silver aluminium corner caps.
Please be sure to forward this on to as many people as you can.

Re: Stolen instruments

That fughing sucks. But have no fear! I shall keep a vigilant eye out for any suspicious instruments winding up for sale in the middle of fugh-all North Carolina! As reward, I shall demand a plane ticket to return the instruments in person. It's the least the owners can do. Seriously, a beating with a short stick would be too good for the b4astard who'd steal somebody's instrument. That's low. Real low.

Re: M. Rooney stolen concertina

I was speaking to Michael's sister at the weekend, and she informed me, to my complete horror, that the person who stole Michael's concertina broke into his hotel room and that's all that was taken. There have been many leads, but to no avail.
