could anybody tell me the name of this first tune... please and thanks, ive been learning it by ear from the video and i have a playable version but id like to find a few more recordings of it to fill in the blanks so to speak..
also, what do we think of the version of paddy ryans dream that they play?
i know this reel as the doonagore. i learned it off the cd "open hearth" by east clare reed players mary macnamara and brother andrew macnamara, whose swing has a backbeat and a shimmy to it that i really like........
This video is just amazing... I love videos like this one, with a few talanted musicans playing together. In my opinion the whole set is amazing. Would anyone want to tell me the name of all the tunes?
And (IMHO) it might be good to note the difference in the tempos between some of the different recordings out there -
I think half the quality of the TMIYD set is
that they do not sound "desperate" -
desperate as in:
"Jaysus!!! How many notes can we cram in at how fast a tempo with how many chord changes from the backers and still have the listeners think I have done all seventeen of the tunes in the set justice with playing them just one chorus apiece?"
If it's a nice tune, maybe play it awhile.
Maybe even twice thru.
Not really, I have heard of them but can't say I have listened to them except odd snippet on Clare FM radio - but I will definitely look them up on your recommendation - thanks for that
Where are you based incidentally ?
ill only do this once, promise :)

I agree with Enob:

And all three of the tunes in the TMIYD set are really lovely, and played well (IMHO).
Learn them all, why not?
