Re: Ciarán Kelly, Ciarán Curran & Dick Glasgow in Derrygonnelly

If I see that "not available in your area" message again, I'll spit. It is so mean tempting us with clips and then the BBC refuses to share. At least youtube has no constraints.

Re: Ciarán Kelly, Ciarán Curran & Dick Glasgow in Derrygonnelly

Nope, says "not available in your area" which I take to mean the west side of the pond.

A shame--I've enjoyed previous clips of your playing, Dick, and have long been a fan of Ciaran Curran. I'd like to hear the sets you posted. :-(

Hi Ptarmigan,

I haven't time to check these out just now but wanted to say that I very much enjoyed your earlier clip (which I didn't get the time to post about at earlier, what can I say: I've been overly busy :-() .

Hey Chris, I know this is always a very busy time of year for you. Please pass on my best wishes to Rudolph & the rest of the team! :-D

Those sound files are a great job Ciaran, I know quite a few folks across the water, who will really enjoy checking those out.

Cheers
Dick

Re: Ciarán Kelly, Ciarán Curran & Dick Glasgow in Derrygonnelly

I noticed Dick on the tv and a rare shot of an English concertina in an Irish sesh. Why don't we see more of them?

The usual comment from the tyro-goatbashertrix "I hope I didn't put anyone off - but I enjoyed myself"

i.e. I'm not a musician and cant play for toffee, but if I can encourage other people to invade a sesh to bash on their new toy, then thats OK.

Hi Geoff,

ECs playing Irish Music - Aye there's an interesting thread on that very topic, over on C.net just now:

As for beginner Bodhran players at sessions - well, it could be worse, after all, they could land in with a dreaded ~ Pianoaccordionosaurus under their arm! :-D

I can't believe that Ptarmigan (Ptarmigan!) made a santa joke about me (or anyone else really). Oh the irony :-D

Re: Ciarán Kelly, Ciarán Curran & Dick Glasgow in Derrygonnelly

Hi Dick,

Just had a quick look and listen to some of the clips, fine stuff.

I watched the session clip and interview through, nice to put a voice and animated face to a familiar name. Your beard isn't nearly as bushy and santa like when you don't have your chin clamped down on a fiddle (the only way I'd previously seen it).

Can't believe you gave a bodhran lesson. Once this gets out, who knows what might happen,

best wishes - chris

Re: Ciarán Kelly, Ciarán Curran & Dick Glasgow in Derrygonnelly

You have to remember Chris that the session clip was filmed in August, when I was in short Summer plumage! ;-)

As for me promoting the Bodhran in sessions ..... I understand that Llig has just issued a Fatwa on me, so I may have to shave off the beard, as a disguise ...... Oh & my dog has volunteered to by my 'Food Taster'!
Well, I suppose I really needed to go on a diet anyway!
