Im at a cross roads, im torn between getting an Overton Bass G. As in the giant huge Bass G. I'm either going to get that or a Low G and F. The F'n'G would only be about 50 bucks more than the Giant G. What do you think that i should do??
The F & G, it will be less hassle to carry around and you'll get more use out of the two. Last I heard Colin wasn't going to make any 'adjustments' to bring those finger holes closer together, as that would compromise other things, so if you go for the big tube, and it is big, long, you'd better have the reach. Some folks playing the bass G have suffered some pain in the process... You won't easily travel with a Bass G, but with the Alto G and F, well, they will easily fit in a suitcase or backpack. For a friend's Bass G we made a case from a length of old plumbing and some pipe insulation, but it is still cumbersome. That said, you'd probably be the only one in your neighbourhood with one that big...
Bigger or better?

Re: Bigger or better?
It's not the size of your whistle, but how well you play with it that counts.

Re: Bigger or better?
In handling, think of the Bass G as a full sized anaconda, where as the other two are corn snakes...

Re: Bigger or better?
If bigger was better all we fiddlers would be playing double basses, and the bodhran would be ousted by the lambeg.

Next thing you know we will be comparing the size of our "schwartzes" like those two characters in the movie SpaceBalls.
