Irish Revolutionary Songs NOT by The Clancy Brothers???

Irish Revolutionary Songs NOT by The Clancy Brothers???

A long while ago, I bought a CD labeled by The Clancy Brothers. I didn't like it because of the first dozen songs. Turns out they are NOT The Clancy Brothers.

Six of the songs sound like they are from the 20's or 30's. They are okay. The first six songs just suck. But have a big band marching sound.

Any clue who those artists are?

Okay. Maybe not 20s or 30s, rethinking about it, and the song selection with the instrumentation of the first artist means it prolly was done in the 70s. But thoughts?

Why don't you just bin it.? Sounds crap. Go to some other Clancy stuff preferably featuring the great Tommy Makem. Otherwise you are headed for songs just like the Afghan revolutionary songs which will greet the 30,000 cannon fodder now sadly on their way from America to Kabul.

I know its slightly off topic, But what are the main reasons you guys like the Clancy Brothers? I have a "Greatest Hits" cd of theirs, but it gets old kinda quick.. could just be a bad CD though, are there any you'd recommend keeping an eye out for?

Sounds like you got jipped though. I agree with rob-toss it and buy a new one.

I love the vocal energy. They have such enthusiasm. I know a lot of the high brows on here don't like 'em but I think they're fantastic.

Depends on what type of music you want. They sing, all the time, in a loud, fun, boisterous style. That’s what you get with them. They are a vital part of modern Irish music history, whether everyone likes it or not.

It's a pity Dominic Behan's 'Easter Week and After' has never been reissued as a CD by Topic.

I'm interested, bellobard, what's the name of the album you purchased which is supposedly by The Clancy Brothers and which label released it?
