i hadn't checked that before but it is interesting to note that (sitting in some 1800-2400 members books) the Top 3 are represented by a reel, jig and slip jig namely
Remember, tunebooks are not necessarily the "favorites" or "most played at a session" or "best" or anything.
Putting a tune in your tunebook only means you know it, or want to learn it, or thought it had a cool name, or heard it last week, or accidentally hit the wrong key, or read about it in a post, or anything.
It doesn't really mean anything, but I guess it is a sort of popularity contest. "Tunes members have heard of most often."
I don't know him well, but if you came to Madison WI it would be possible. He doesn't come to the sessions much at all these days, which isn't for distaste but preoccupation. I think he still might be playing an invite only session on Sundays, but I don't go to that, but I should because his playing is divine, it got me into the music, at least in a new way, a fews years back.
We played the butterfly last Friday and the new fiddle player asked what came before the butterfly? I looked at Thug he looked at me and I said ' the caterpiller?'
life is too short to miss a line like that
