I have lost sound in my 'putr so have to guess that I have the correct clip. I discovered it by chance and thought that it was such a "happy" sounding melody. I now need the dots so I can learn without the sound! grrr
~ lovely music, thanks for a nice morning wakeup... Now if only they'd get the balance a bit better so I could hear the flutes and concertina a little better...
I forgot to mention that while the Dartry Céilí Band were second in the Fleadh Cheoil the year that this tune was recorded, they did one better this year in Tullamore by taking the coveted All-Ireland title. I haven't yet seen their 2009 performances on Comhaltaslive but I'd be very confident Willie Fogarty has it in the can so keep watching that space!
A final thought - there's been an awful lot of discussion here recently on the predominance of jigs at sessions but in my opinion we get far too few barn dances. This tune, whether learnt from the video clips or the tunes section (sorry Michael!) would therefore be a great addition to any musician's repertoire.
There are different grades of MP3 but an initial comparison of the two didn't show an obvious difference. However, the download on the Comhaltas site is small, suggesting it is a lower quality MP3, which may be the case to keep the size of the site more manageable, a reason why the larger WAV audio files are not generally available online. MP3 compression is in great part responsible for why it is difficult to hear the different instruments ~ loss of clarity and distinction, aside from the top and tailing, the general hacking off of highs and lows considered out of the general audible range, ignoring their effect on the audible range...
But that's another topic, I still enjoyed this very much and can't find any great difference between the two links as far as audio. Nicholas probably would like the box player to be given a larger part in the mix. After all, the poor lad is outnumbered here, or should I say, a better balance is struck than usual.
Thanks everyone. Now working my way thru this 4 part tune. Just wish i had access to sound again so that I could listen to the Dartry bunch again. it sounds such a jolly tune when they play it. i also loved the changes the 2nd time round.

Think it's Pearl O'Shaughnessy's at http://www.thesession.org/tunes/display/4321 but the better setting is the one given by ceolachan in the comments.

I love that first clip - the buoyancy and the dynamics are incredible.
Dartry Ceilidh Band - I'll have to remember that...

The Turloughmore Céilí Band from Clare also made a lovely recording of this tune on their "Seven Streams" CD - see http://www.turloughmoreceiliband.com/seven_streams.html.
