I propose to fit medium gauge (bottom E .046) A .037 Thomastik Techno-Brights (Fusion Series) to my electric guitar for blues/rock.
How would you rate these strings?
The existing light strings (I don't have the maker) are a bit buzzy unless fretted firmly and accurately.
Thanks.
I second Dave.
However, when are your current strings buzzy ? Acoustic buzzes do not come out via the amp, only your ears in close proximity. Maybe you should take the guitar out of the bedroom and do some live playing in a band situation ( most electric guitarists NEVER get out of the bedroom ).
What's your string action ( gap between 12th fret and strings ) ?
If you like doing a lot of string bending you might be better off staying with the light strings. Oh, and what's the top string gauge ? Bottom isn't so much use in defining weight.
thanks, yes wrong forum
Gauge unknown as the strings came with the instrument.
Some of it is purely acoustic but there is some on the headphones and amp as well.
I will get it properly set up which should help.
The new top string will be .011
I like the idea of the wee laddie (it has to be a laddie, I'm not being sexist) playing jigs and reels acoustically on his electric guitar in his bedroom while watching telly made for three year olds.
dear cbeebies how do you get that beautful blues sound on the guitar ,people ask me how to get the irish trad sound ,but i have no real answer ,a little fun is good for the soul, dont you think ,sorry about my bad writing, no schoolen, the devil a care, eat the rich,
why is this the wrong forum. we're all meant to be musicians. yeah, i'd just go for the earn and ball light electric guitar strings. best strings in my oppinion but if you want a bluesy sound, i'd go for a thicker string, but earn and ball are great strings, nice and cheap too.
sorry for the unwarm welcoming of the self professed "purist" knobs, who by their answers to peoples discussions prove to know absolutely nothing about traditional irish music. this is a forum for musicians. davey spillane uses an electric guitar on many recordings, and last time i checked he was a traditional musician, so therefore any question relating to an electric guitar is therefore related to irish music. mate, feel free to ask away. any more queries about your electric guitar?
yet again you are showing that you know nothing at all about trad music fast eddie..you are nothing more than an upstart young know all who thinks he knows what he is talking about!
the sh*te that comes out of your mouth is crap, absolutely stinking crap. an electric guitar is not ever related to irish music..you are a big tit, a massive toss and quite clearly that every time you "bash" the purists who play traditional music it shows you are a philistine! go play with yourself somewhere that noone else needs to listen to your plunky plunky modern banjo.

You don't need to use 11s to get rid of buzz.
A set-up will fix the problem.
