The Em version of Swallowtail Jig is a classic and one of my favorites. It's a pretty easy tune and I've pretty much got it down. Can I get some suggestions on good jigs to go along with that one?
One way to create a set with a “dark” tune that centers around E (like your setting of The Swallowtail) is to pair it with a brighter tune centered around G, like The Kesh, or The Cow that Ate The Blanket. Or, since you’re technically playing in E Dorian which is the same fingering as D major, you could play it with a tune like The Luachrachan, Tobin’s Favourite or The Frost is All Over. It’s the same group of notes as The Swallowtail (in a different order, of course!) but coming to rest on the D note instead of the E.
Along the same lines as fidkid, follow it with Stan Chapman's in A. It's a nice effect because the last note of Swallowtail is E, and so is the first note of Stan Chapman's.

Re: Swallowtail Jig Pairings
Some to try:
Follow it with "Joy Of My Life", perhaps?
Or "Humours Of Kesh?
"Boys Of Ballymote" in "G"?
Or,
Or,
Or,
too many to list.
Have fun!
